Jack Huston Promoted to Series Regular for Boardwalk Empire: Season 2

This isn’t particularly unexpected news, but it’s very pleasant nonetheless. Deadline reports that Jack Huston will be a season regular on Boardwalk Empire when it returns for its second season, presumably next fall. Huston plays Richard Harrow, a veteran marksman of the first World War with severe injuries that force him to wear a mask that covers half his face. The character appeared in five of the last six episodes of the show’s first season and quickly became a favorite, thanks in part to his striking visual element. Fortunately, the character’s not just a gimmicky killer, as the series got to do a little bit of exploration into his struggles to reorient himself into society after returning from war, especially with injuries that even he finds frightening. I’ll be looking forward to seeing where Terence Winter and crew take him in the next season now that he’s been established in Atlantic City with the main action.
