Another actor has been cast in AMC and Frank Darabont’s television adaptation of comics series The Walking Dead. FEARnet got word from Darabont that frequent collaborator Jeffrey DeMunn has joined the cast in an unspecified role. Given the characteristics of DeMunn and assuming that he’s playing a character present in the comics, he’s most likely portraying Dale, an older man who partners up with two young women during the immediate aftermath of the zombie apocalypse. DeMunn has been featured in all of the theatrical films Frank Darabont has directed, including The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Majestic and The Mist.
Already cast in the new show are Andrew Lincoln as lead protagonist Rick Grimes and Jon Bernthal as Shane, Rick’s police partner. Frank Darabont is writing and directing the pilot which goes into production next month around Atlanta. AMC has ordered an initial six episodes which are likely to cover the first arc of the comics.
The Walking Dead will premiere in October.
