HBO’s getting ready to launch its new drama series Treme in just a couple weeks, so they’ve put together a really cool 14 minute video that introduces the characters and concept. The show comes from David Simon (creator of The Wire) and Eric Overmyer (writer/producer on The Wire) and tells the story of several characters resuming life in the Treme district of New Orleans three months after Hurricane Katrina. The show stars Wendell Pierce, Clarke Peters, Khandi Alexander, Steve Zahn, Rob Brown, Kim Dickens, Melissa Leo and John Goodman.
Treme begins its 10 episode first season on Sunday, April 16th at 10pm following the fifth episode of The Pacific. I couldn’t be more excited to see it. There’s a great cast, amazing creative pedigree and a guarantee of great music.

While you’re waiting for the premiere of Simon’s new series, get prepped on Tremé history with this excellent documentary, Faubourg Treme: The Untold Story of Black New Orleans, by Dawn Logsdon and “Treme” staff writer Lolis Eric Elie. Essential history, great music and viewing pleasure to get you in the groove!!!
