Looking ahead to 2010, lots of my favorites are definitely releasing new albums. It’s actually kind of ridiculous how many of my favorite artists are appearing in the new year, hell, the first half of the new year. It looks like it’ll be a great 12 months of music for me. Here are just the definites. The dates are for North America, with European releases happening a day earlier since their music always debuts on Mondays.
- Four Tet – There is Love in You (January 26)
- BT – These Hopeful Machines (February 2)
- Massive Attack – Heligoland (February 9)
- UNKLE – Where Did the Night Fall (February)
- Goldfrapp – Head First (March 23)
- Jónsi – Go (March 23)
- Hybrid – Disappear Here (March/April)
- Gorillaz – Plastic Beach (Winter/Spring)
- Faithless – Calling All the Faithful (first half of the year)
- FlyKKiller – I, Myself, Am War
- Röyksopp – Senior
- Daft Punk – Tron Legacy soundtrack
Along with the above, there’s a new release from The Chemical Brothers approaching and Sigur Rós is working on another LP targeted for release by year’s end. Maybe we’ll see Justice’s sophomore record and Burial’s remix album of Massive Attack’s Heligoland. I’ll be glad just to see anything from Burial see the light of day. Less likely are releases by Radiohead, Portishead and Under Byen, though all are at least working on cooking up new stuff.
