Batman: Under the Red Hood Next for DC Animated

It looks like the eighth direct-to-video DC animated movie has been revealed as a solo Batman story. Blu-ray.com first reported that the Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths included a preview for Batman: Under the Red Hood. Mania reports that Judd Winick is behind the script and is basing it on his “Under the Hood” arc in the Batman comics, which involved Jason Todd’s (the second Robin) return from the dead as an anti-hero named the Red Hood. Red Hood was originally a moniker by the Joker before his Joker days, but Jason Todd brought it back. Assuming Red Hood’s identity isn’t changed for the movie, it’ll be interesting to see how they deal with everything in that individual story along with informing viewers of the history behind Jason Todd, which has never been presented in any of the many animated Batman stories.

Expect more info near February 23rd when Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths is released. Batman: Under the Red Hood would be expected around July based on the past DC animated release schedule.
