There’s a pretty cool red band teaser up for Kick-Ass dealing with the Hit-Girl character played by Chloe Moretz. Generally I think this looks like it should be a good amount of fun, as opposed to several other recent off-kilter heavily violent action movies. However, I find myself very distracted by the sound effects the bad guys make when they’re shot. I hope those are temporary as it sounds like an effect from N64 era shooters like GoldenEye 007 or Perfect Dark. I swear I’ve heard that bit in a video game before.
Kick-Ass is directed by Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Stardust), who co-wrote the screenplay with Jane Goldman. The movie is based on Mark Millar’s comics series of the same name about a group of regular people who dress up and become vigilantes. Aaron Johnson plays Kick-Ass, Chloe Moretz is Hit-Girl, Christopher Mintz-Plasse is Red Mist and Nicolas Cage portrays the Big Daddy. Mark Strong, Xander Berkeley, Clark Duke and Lyndsy Fonseca also appear.
Kick-Ass is set for release by Lionsgate on April 16th, 2010.
