Zachary Levi (Chuck) was interviewed by Star Pulse and briefly talked about his co-leading role in Disney’s Rapunzel. He plays a bandit named Flynn who is teamed up with Rapunzel after she escapes from her tower. Mandy Moore is voicing the title character while Donna Murphy plays Mother Gothel, the witch who imprisons Rapunzel. Here’s the relevant excerpt:

No longer the princess in waiting, Rapunzel doesn’t need a prince. “My character is a bandit, named Flynn Ryder,” Levi continued. “It’s funny because when I auditioned for the part, he was supposed to be British and I auditioned with a British accent. And, I got the job and was like, ‘Sweet! I get to do something outside of the box.’ And then, they decided, ‘No, we’re not going to make him British. We’re just going to do your voice. Just do what you do.’ And, I was like, ‘But, I don’t wanna do that.’”

The rest of the interview involves Levi repeatedly gushing over Pixar and John Lasseter. Now, Lasseter is obviously executive producing Rapunzel but someone should tell Levi that Pixar has nothing to do with it. This is a Walt Disney Feature Animation film and I’m sure the crew there would appreciate the credit.

Rapunzel is the next CG animated film from WDFA and is set for release on November 24th, 2010. Byron Howard (director of Bolt) and Nathan Greno (storyboard director of Bolt) are directing.
