I’m not sure anyone really cares about the Spike TV Video Game Awards, but they do result in a televised venue for gaming publishers to show off an/or announce upcoming titles to an eager audience. For Sunday’s broadcast, they got a hold on a teaser clip for the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum, which was not only the true Batman experience fans have been waiting years for but also one of the year’s best games overall thanks to the magnificent efforts by the guys at Rocksteady. Here’s the clip:
There’s also an official site that’s sprung up, though no major content is available yet. It’s called Arkham Has Moved, which combined with the video seems to indicate Arkham has moved to within Gotham proper as a walled-off section of the city. The site and the video also have pieces of art showing a Two-Face version of Uncle Sam, so it’s likely that villain will be appearing. On top of him, the Penguin is teased with a glimpse of his Iceberg Lounge nightclub while the name Sionis shows up, which is the surname of the Black Mask. Joker is also featured with an IV in his arm, possibly demonstrating how the story is leading off from the previous game’s. Other good news is that long time Batman writer Paul Dini indicated on his Twitter feed tonight that he’s returning to script the sequel.
There’s no indication of when the Batman: Arkham Asylum followup is targeted for release.
