Courtesy of Yahoo, we’ve got the first poster for Iron Man 2 which also happens to contain a solid look at War Machine, the persona Rhodes eventually takes on. What’s interesting about the poster is how it seems to put the two characters in opposition, sort of reminiscent of the Spider-Man 3 poster that contrasted Spider-Man regular suit and his black symbiote one. Are Stark and Rhodes at odds at some point in the film? Perhaps this dynamic is incidental and doesn’t reflect any potential plot points, but it’s food for thought.
Iron Man 2 hits theaters on May 7th, 2010 with Jon Favreau in the director’s seat once again. Robert Downey Jr. stars as Tony Stark, with Gwyneth Paltrow also returning. Don Cheadle replaces Terrence Howard as Rhodes. Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell claim new characters Whiplash, Black Widow and Justin Hammer, respectively. Samuel L. Jackson will also be featured again as Nick Fury. Justin Theroux (Tropic Thunder) wrote the screenplay.
