There’s been some additional casting for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Marvel’s Thor by Kenneth Branagh. First up, from Heat Vision, is Idris Elba in the role of Heimdall, a guardian of Asgard. Then comes word from Natalie Portman via MTV, who plays the female lead, that Kat Dennings will also be appearing in an unspecified role. They join Chris Hemsworth in the title role, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Portman, Jaime Alexander and Colm Feore. The script was written by Mark Protosevich, Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller.
Thor follows the powerful yet arrogant warrio as he’s banished from Asgard to Earth after accidentally reigniting an ancient war. It’s not long before the dark forces of Asgard, lead by Loki, turn their attentions to humanity leaving Thor to rise to the occasion.
Thor goes into production in January with a release date of May 20th, 2011.
