HBO’s put together a second trailer for The Pacific, the Band of Brothers conceptual follow-up from Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg centered on the campaign against the Japanese. Joseph Mazzello (Tim from Jurassic Park) seems to have the main role. Contrary to that other series, it looks like we’ll see more of the domestic action here, although it’s unclear whether that might just be for the first episode or two, at the end or somehow interspersed throughout the full ten episodes. If this miniseries even approaches the greatness of Band of Brothers, then we’re really in for a treat. It’s just sad that Michael Kamen passed on and can’t return for scoring duties. Hans Zimmer, Blake Neely and Geoff Zanelli are collaborating on the music this time.
The Pacific will premiere in March 2010 on HBO.
I think that the domestic action will really only be shown for the first couple of installments. The main focus will really be on the Marines’ efforts in the war. I’m really looking forward to watching this miniseries.
