Empire reports that Timothy Dalton has joined the cast of Toy Story 3 and will be voicing a character named Mr. Pricklepants. He’s a hedgehog toy with thespian tendencies. I hope they just cut him loose and let him have a blast. After Hot Fuzz, I’m down for letting Timothy Dalton chewas much scenery as he wants.
Empire also got a look at the full trailer for the film, which confirmed a few details about the plot. Firstly, Andy is indeed heading off to college and he’s tasked with rounding up all the belongings he wants in storage and what can be thrown out. By mistake, his toys end up heading to the dump with Woody attempting a rescue. Eventually they end up at a daycare center but are treated poorly by the kids and must plan a further escape. The question, of course, is where the toys will end up by the movie’s end.
The trailer for Toy Story 3 is supposed to debut on October 2nd in front of the 3D screenings of Toy Story and Toy Story 2. The film is directed by Lee Unkrich and written by Michael Arndt. It’s scheduled for release on June 18th, 2010.
