Jeff Bridges will reunite with the Coen brothers on their re-adaptation of the Charles Portis novel True Grit. The trio previously teamed for The Big Lebowski. The novel was previously turned into a John Wayne western of the same name in 1969, which yielded the actor an Oscar. The period story follows a 14-year old girl who teams with a United States Marshal and another lawman to find her father’s killer in Indian territory. The first adaptation focused on the Marshal while this one, as scripted by the Coens and truer to the novel, will be from the girl’s perspective. Bridges will play the Marshal. No other casting has been revealed.
Joel and Ethan Coen also have A Serious Man due out October 2nd.
