A trailer has arrived courtesy of /Film for Jason Reitman’s third film. Up in the Air stars George Clooney as “a corporate downsizing expert whose cherished life on the road is threatened just as he is on the cusp of reaching ten million frequent flyer miles and just after he’s met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.” The likes of Vera Farmiga, Jason Bateman, Anna Kendrick, Melanie Lynskey and Danny McBride co-star. Reitman and Sheldon Turner adapted the screenplay from a novel by Walter Kim, which gives me some reassurance that this won’t be a painful experience like the Diablo Cody-scripted Juno but more like Thank You For Smoking, which Reitman also adapted into a solid if somewhat overrated affair. Anyway, the trailer is definitely interesting and George Clooney makes virtually everything watchable at the very least and he’s got pretty good taste in scripts. I’ll try not to hold Juno against this one.
Up in the Air is scheduled for limited release on November 13th before expanding for Thanksgiving making that holiday even more crowded at the box office.
