Teaser Trailer: Inception

Leonardo DiCaprio in Inception

Naturally I was at one of the Inglourious Basterds screenings that failed to have the Inception teaser in front of it, but it thankfully appeared online Monday morning. I think it delivers as an early teaser trailer, showing us a few tantalizing hints at what’s in store without telling us much of anything. Between the fight scene and the glass of water, it looks like altering forces of gravity will play a role in the action. Besides a couple shots of DiCaprio’s character looking disturbed by his environments, the only other recognizable actor in the teaser is Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the hallway sequence. Christopher Nolan (Memento, The Dark Knight) is the film’s writer and director, and he seems to be continuing his love of filming cities from helicopters and rooftops that he developed on the Batman films. It’s also interesting to note that the Inception logo is quite similar to the logo for Nolan’s production company, Syncopy.

See the teaser trailer at Yahoo! Movies. I recommend one of the HD options.

We know Inception is a “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind” and that it deals with dreams of one sort or another. Iit stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy and Tom Berenger. Michael Caine and Dileep Rao have smaller roles as well. DiCaprio plays a CEO-type, Cotillard is his wife, Gordon-Levitt is some sort of associate while Page plays a young grad student who’s at DiCaprio’s character’s side. Watanabe has the villainous role and is blackmailing DiCaprio.

Inception opens on July 16th, 2010.
