This isn’t really surprising but CineFOOLS confirmed with producer Barry Mendel that Christopher Nolan is no longer attached to the feature adaptation of The Prisoner TV series from 1967. He was attached back in 2006 with David and Janet Peoples writing the script but the project hasn’t really been heard of since. Meanwhile, Nolan’s become so successful that he can get some $200 million for an original sci-fi film of his own creation (read: Inception). Going back to revamping an old television show probably doesn’t have the same kind of appeal.
On the plus side though, the television miniseries redo of The Prisoner went ahead and will arrive on AMC in November. Fans of the show will get to see a reworking after all, even if the film never goes anywhere.
