On August 21st, science fiction fans will get the first mass looks at two original and massively budgeted sci-fi films. James Cameron’s Avatar’s trailer and 15 minute preview at select theaters has received a lot of attention with Fox declaring it “Avatar Day”. Now, via JoBlo, there’s word that Christopher Nolan’s Inception will – theater providing - have a teaser trailer in front of Inglourious Basterds. Funny how Inception gets a trailer at the same time as Avatar even though it comes out seven months later. Of course, it’s totally unclear whether the teaser will have any substance or not. The first teaser for The Dark Knight was just a logo and a bit of dialogue. Considering there hasn’t even been any official word on the film’s plot, it might be a more mysterious teaser.
We know Inception is a “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind” and that it stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy and Tom Berenger. Michael Caine has a small role as well. DiCaprio plays a CEO-type, Cotillard is his wife, Gordon-Levitt is some sort of associate while Page plays a young grad student who’s at DiCaprio’s character’s side. Watanabe has the villainous role and is blackmailing DiCaprio.
Inception will be released by Warner Bros on July 16th, 2010.
