Peter Jackson’s going in a different with The Lovely Bones compared to the last decade of big epic action films. The film is adapted from Alice Sebold’s novel by Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. A young girl is murdered only to find herself watching over her family and her killer from heaven. Both she and her family are pulled in opposing directions by the desire for justice and the need to heal. Saoirse Ronan stars alongside Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, Michael Imperioli and Stanley Tucci. Brian Eno provides an original score.

Looks a whole lot more interesting than King Kong… I’m not sure it appears up my alley in any way, but it’s got a pretty great cast and Stanley Tucci’s transformation steals the trailer for me.
The Lovely Bones will be in theaters on December 11th.
