Surprising no one, HBO has ordered a third season of True Blood with the intention of having it premiere June 2010. The show, which is based on a book series by Charlaine Harris, may also be interested to know that three more books are scheduled over the next few years.
I think I’m enjoying this season more than last. Maybe it’s because the core setup is over and done with and now the story is free to have fun with its universe. Maybe it’s because it’s gotten better at harnessing its campy, knowing humor. At this point it’s not even a guilty pleasure. It’s not designed to be a serious soap opera, it’s relishing in its cheesiness with wink and a smile.
