HBO’s Band of Brothers companion miniseries The Pacific will debut in March 2010. That series, again executive produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, will last ten episodes and explore the Pacific campaign of World War II. It stars Joseph Mazzello (a grown up Tim from Jurassic Park).
Treme, HBO’s drama about people rebuilding their lives in a post-Katrina New Orleans, will debut in April and use the latter episodes of The Pacific to launch. Treme comes from David Simon (The Wire, Generation Kill). Wendell Pierce (Det. ‘Bunk’ Moreland on The Wire) stars as a jazz musician with an ex-wife and new baby. Khandi Alexander (NewsRadio, Simon’s The Corner, CSI: Miami) plays the ex and a barkeeper. Melissa Leo (Frozen River) is a civil rights attorney. Steve Zahn (Rescue Dawn) portrays another musician. Clarke Peters (Det. Lester Freamon from The Wire) plays a Mardi Gras Indian chief. Rob Brown and Kim Dickens round out the main cast.
Additionally, it seems inevitable that the Martin Scorsese-directed, Terence Winter-created Boardwalk Empire will be picked up for series with HBO saying it hasn’t seen the completed pilot yet but they love everything they’ve seen so far.
