The Wolf Man delayed again to next February

Universal has pushed The Wolf Man back to February 12th, 2010. That’s four months from its previous November date and a year after originally being meant for this February. The reasoning is said to be because some big special effects sequences will take until late fall to be completed and thus won’t be available for use in marketing until late in the game. The Hollywood Reporter story says to expect a trailer of some sort on August 21st, however. The whole thing must be kind of awkward given that the film had a sizable showing at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con with an extended trailer shown way back then. I saw a bootleg of that and thought it looked pretty damned good, but all these delays reportedly due to visual effects work is disconcerting.

The Wolf Man, the remake/revival of Universal’s old monster franchise, is directed by Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer, Jumanji, Jurassic Park III) and stars Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving and Emily Blunt. The script was written by Andrew Kevin Walker and David Self.
