In just a couple months we’ll get Spike Jonze’s wildly cool looking Where the Wild Things Are, adapted from the Maurice Sendak children’s book. Thankfully, everyone involved seems to have been dedicated to making a film that didn’t speak down to children or resort to pop culture gags or bodily function humor. The trailers are indicating something very magical.
Spike Jonze directs from a script co-written with Dave Eggers. Max Records stars as the child, Max, while Catherine Keener plays his mom, and Mark Ruffalo her boyfriend. James Gandolfini, Lauren Ambrose, Paul Dano, Catherine O’Hara, Forest Whitaker and Tom Noonan portray some of the wild things.
Where the Wild Things Are is being released by Warner Bros on October 16th.
A featurette with Maurice Sendak and Spike Jonze talking about the film follows after the jump.
