Finally a trailer for James McTeigue’s Ninja Assassin. The film stars Korean star Rain as an orphan raised by a secret clan of ninjas as an assassin. As an adult he leaves the clan after they execute a friend and becomes determined to have his revenge, which intersects with a Europol investigation. Naomie Harris, Rick Yune and Ben Miles co-star. James McTeigue previously directed V for Vendetta for the Wachowski brothers, who also produce this one. Matthew Sand and J. Michael Straczynski wrote the screenplay.
I’m not expecting anything real thought-provoking here, but for a super gory action film I think this could turn out pretty sweet. I’m not thrilled with the CG enhanced shots of weapons being flung around the screen, but it also doesn’t look as egregious as similar shots from V for Vendetta. I’m sure I’ll be checking this out at the big screen.
Ninja Assassin will be in theaters on November 25th courtesy of Warner Bros.
