Here’s a first shot of Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, courtesy of EW. The film marks the first of the Disney’s proposed new series with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, with them looking at it as the next Pirates of the Caribbean. Based on the video game series, the film follows the young prince as he teams with a princess in order to stop a villainous nobleman from using the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time, to take control of the kingdom.
Mike Newell directs while Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina, Ben Kingsley and Toby Kebbell also star. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be released on May 28th, 2010.
