Good news, everyone! The previously mentioned rumor has been confirmed and is even more awesome in truth. Comedy Central has ordered a whopping 26 new episodes of Futurama to begin airing in mid-2010. That’s more than a third of what the series received in total for its run on Fox, which ended back in 2003. The main voice actors are all expected to return, including the likes of Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio. Likewise for the core writing team, and I’d hope some of those who didn’t take part with the movies but were onboard for the series. The order will be aired as two 13 episode seasons, as is typical for cable networks.
Creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen released a comment saying that they attributed the show’s return to “some sort of mysterious time loop.”Buy from Amazon.com:
