There’s a report coming out of Collider that Comedy Central has ordered thirteen new episodes of Futurama. They’ve got an “inside source” saying the order’s been made and that Futurama production offices are back up and running.
While I generally liked the four direct-to-video movies, I’d be super pleased if these were all standalone episodes. I’m sure the movie transition would have been infinitely better if they weren’t simultaneously being written so that they could be split into single episodes for broadcast. That process ends up making both forms awkward.
Hopefully some kind of confirmation comes our way soon. Maybe at the San Diego Comic Con?
