The film is less than seven months out and has been in production for years and still barely even a taste of what might be coming. Anyway, MarketSaw got its hands on two pieces of concept art featured in the upcoming The Art of Avatar: James Cameron’s Epic Adventure.
Avatar is James Cameron’s return to fiction, which he’s been away from since 1997′s Titanic. It takes place far in the future when humans have reached the planet Pandora and are in conflict with the native humanoid Na’vi inhabitants. The protagonist is Jake, a paraplegic war veteran sent to the planet who controls an avatar in the form of one of the aliens. His loyalties are challenged and finds himself siding with the Na’vi in the war. Sam Worthington stars, alongside Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, CCH Pounder, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore and Matt Gerald. At this point the film is best known for being incredibly expensive, mysterious and amibitous, with supposedly groundbreaking performance capture for the aliens. The film is also supposed to prove the worth of stereoscopic (3D) cinema.
