Pete Docter, director of Up, was interviewed by ComingSoon and mentioned that Bob Peterson, the film’s co-director, had shifted off to develop his own film. When asked where Peterson’s been during the press tour, Docter said:
Bob, well right now he’s working on a film that will be out before you know it, so he’s got a lot of work on his hands. The last year of production I guess, he transitioned off onto development, to work on his own thing, so yeah, he’s been busy.
So for the last year or so Bob Peterson has been working on his own film at Pixar, presumably set for 2013 or beyond. Congrats to him, he’s been with Pixar since Toy Story mostly in the story department, including co-writing Up and Finding Nemo. It should be interesting to see what he comes up with. It’ll probably be a while until we hear anything more about it.
Pixar’s current confirmed schedule:
- Toy Story 3, directed by Lee Unkrich for June 18th, 2010.
- Cars 2, directed by Brad Lewis for June 24th, 2011.
- The Bear and the Bow, directed by Brenda Chapman for December 25th, 2011.
- Newt, directed by Gary Rydstrom for June 2012.
