According to Variety, Starz has announced it’s bringing back Party Down for a second season of ten more episodes. That’s great news for everyone enjoying the best new comedy on television (sorry Parks and Recreation). Ken Marino, Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr and Ryan Hansen are all set to return. If you watch the show you should realize that the previous sentence may also mean bad news. Jane Lynch is committed to starring on Fox’s new show Glee so she is not signed on for the second season, at least yet. The hope is that something will work out. Alan Sepinwall adds that the next two episodes, which are the last of the season, are also lacking Jane Lynch who was filming Glee‘s pilot at the time. I guess we’ll see how the show works without her character’s effusive enthusiasm. Still, I hope she manages to return. Her character’s an important ingredient to the show’s greatness.
On the business end, Adam Scott’s grabbing a producer’s credit on the next season while Fred Savage and Bryan Gordon are set to continue splitting directing duties, although Ken Marino is set to direct one episode, too. The plan is for the second season to shoot later in the summer for a 2010 airing.
If you haven’t watched this yet, seriously, find a way. If you don’t have Starz the show is available for streaming through Netflix.
