Trailer: The Princess and the Frog

Sometime today The Disney Channel aired the first full trailer for The Princess and the Frog and it’s been captured and uploaded to YouTube. The plot’s a riff on the ol’ frog prince tale, set in New Orleans. Ron Clements and John Musker returned to Disney to write and direct this one after John Lasseter took over Disney animation. The pair previously directed The Great Mouse Detective, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules and Treasure Planet. Voice talent for The Princess and the Frog includes Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos, Oprah Winfrey, Terrence Howard, John Goodman, Keith David, Jim Cummings and Jenifer Lewis. Along with being a return to traditional animation, it’s also bringing back the animated musical with music and lyrics from Randy Newman.

Looks absolutely gorgeous. I don’t think I knew about the little twist shown in the trailer where Tiana turns into a frog herself. I wonder for how long of the film she’ll be in human form? I can’t wait to check this out come Thanksgiving time.

The Princess and the Frog opens in New York City and Los Angeles on November 25th, and nationwide on December 11th.
