Inception gains Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is joining the cast of Inception, written and to be directed by Christopher Nolan. He’ll accompany Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page and Cillian Murphy. Nolan sure knows how to pick amazing casts. Gordon-Levitt is a fantastic actor (see Brick and The Lookout for shining examples) and it’s just a waiting game until he has his Heath Ledger moment and everyone realizes it, by which I’m referring to Ledger’s breakout role in Brokeback Mountain, not any other moment in his unfortunately short life.

We still don’t really know anything about Inception beyond it being “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind,” but The Hollywood Reporter has some brief details on some of the roles. DiCaprio plays a CEO-type, Cotillard is his wife, Gordon-Levitt is some sort of associate while Page plays a young grad student who’s at DiCaprio’s character’s side.

Inception is set to shoot this summer for a release on July 16th, 2010.
