Riceboy Sleeps is an artistic collaboration between Jón Þór Birgisson (lead singer of Sigur Rós) and Alex Somers. They’ve been creating visual art since 2003 and are now preparing to release a self-titled instrumental album. Yes, you read that right. The singer for Sigur Rós doesn’t sing on his own side project. Anyway, it seems this is a strongly ambient endeavor, at least based on the two tracks currently available for listening. Their official site has videos accompanying “All the Big Trees” and “Daníell In the Sea” or their MySpace page has both in strictly audio.
The album’s tracklisting is as follows:
- Happiness
- Atlas Song
- Indian Summer
- Stokkseyri
- Boy 1904
- All the Big Trees
- Daníell in the Sea
- Howl
- Sleeping Giant
Riceboy Sleeps is scheduled to hit European stores on July 20th. Hopefully there’s a digital release, even if not at domestic sites, for non-Europeans to grab this.
