Besides Park Chan-wook’s Thirst, the other major South Korean film I’m eagerly awaiting is Mother, from writer/director Bong Joon-ho (Memories of Murder, The Host). The film is about a mother trying to save her son after he is wrongfully accused of a murder. It’s a little bit like the flip side of Memories of Murder, where many alibi-less people were brought in as suspects because they fit the serial killer’s profile and may have shared a common trait.
Mother is currently in post-production and expected to appear at the Cannes Film Festival.
