First music from We Fell to Earth

We Fell to Earth

We Fell to Earth

In my daily Internet wanderings, I came around the first three songs to come out of We Fell to Earth, the new project from Richard File and Wendy Rae Fowler. Richard File was James Lavelle’s partner in UNKLE for Never, Never, Land and War Stories before he left in January ‘08 to start this band. As a big fan of UNKLE, I’ve been looking out for news on this project. Can’t say I was previously familiar with Wendy Rae Fowler, but it seems she’s bounced around and had vocal guesting spots for various rock bands.

We Fell to Earth’s initial three song self-titled EP sounds a lot like an extension of UNKLE’s War Stories, where that duo continued having electronic foundations and influences but was putting rock more front and center. We Fell to Earth seems to be the continuation of that trend and that’s not a bad thing, especially if Lavelle’s UNKLE heads off in yet another new direction with new partners. Regardless, We Fell to Earth has thus far given us some welcome atmospheric, somber rock in the form of “Lights Out,” “Careful What You Wish For,” “The Double.” A full LP is expected down the line, hopefully in ‘09.

Listen to the tunes over at their MySpace page or official site.
