Teaser for Park Chan-Wook’s Thirst

Thirst

A Korean trailer (without subtitles) is out for the next film from Park Chan-wook (JSA: Joint Security Area, Oldboy, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance). Thirst follows a priest to Africa where he volunteers himself as a test subject for a cure to a deadly disease. The experiment fails, but turns the priest into a vampire. The film then tracks his blood and sex lusts as they clash with his faith.

Thirst stars frequent Park collaborator Song Kang-ho and will be released in South Korea in April. Universal put in some of the funding for the film, providing Focus Features the domestic distribution rights. No U.S. release date is set, but it has previously been mentioned for the summer.

I’m quite a fan of Park’s (and still interested in checking out I’m a Cyborg… and That’s OK if it ever gets a release here) and this looks as gorgeous as expected and full of potential for some fun twists on vampire tales. It’s definitely among my more anticipated films of the year.
