According to E! Online, Michael Cera has quit resisting an Arrested Development movie and agreed to take part alongside the rest of the original cast.
Cera had been the lone holdout among the show’s stars for several weeks. All other Bluths, including Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Jessica Walter, Jeffrey Tambor and David Cross, are already game, according to sources.
*ahem* Alia Shawkat shouldn’t be overlooked.
Anyway, Mitchell Hurwitz is writing the script and planning to direct, possibly by the end of the year, for Fox Searchlight. I just hope none of this is rushed, since Hurwitz is involved in a number of new television projects and if more Arrested Development is going to happen, I want it to be damned good. No one was more pissed than I when Fox canceled the show, but then I saw the series finale and thought they did a tremendous job of bringing the whole story full circle and ending things more perfectly than I could have possibly dreamed given the abrupt cancellation. As much as I want to see more of these characters, I don’t want it to be cheap or forced. We left them off at a beautifully opened-ended point.
