Inglourious Basterds
*sigh*
If the teaser trailer didn’t say enough about Inglourious Basterds‘s direction, maybe these posters will. No one needs any reminders about how evil the Nazis were, but that doesn’t make it sane to want to see the ‘good guys’ brutally slaughter them. There’s nothing fun or redeeming about Eli Roth battering a Nazi soldier’s face in with a baseball bat while he’s surrendered and on his knees. That’s just sick and demented. This is going to turn out to be just another torture porn flick isn’t it? I’ve certainly yet to see anything suggesting the film has an awareness of how its heroes are as morally fucked up as the Nazis they’re hunting and killing.
I think I’m tuning out on Tarantino’s latest until and unless I read reviews that say this isn’t a movie about mindless immoral brutality.
