Variety reports that Martin Campbell is in talks to direct Green Lantern as Warner Bros. looks to continue the success they’ve had with Batman in other DC franchises. Campbell is probably best known for directing GoldenEye and Casino Royale, but also handled the two recent Zorro adventures and the upcoming Mel Gibson starrer and William Monahan scripted Edge of Darkness. The current script was written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. Berlanti had been attached to also direct for some time, but has moved on to a different project at WB, an adaptation of This is Where I Leave You.

The film will center on Hal Jordan as he goes from being a semi-regular guy test piloting aircraft to fighting cosmic battles with a power ring. Green Lantern has been loosely scheduled for a 2010 bow in the past, but that has not be reaffirmed.
